Elon Musk usually makes headlines for things like Starship launches or the latest Tesla updates. But lately, it’s a simple family snapshot that has the whole internet talking. A recent photo of Musk with his twins, Strider Sekhar and Comet Azure, went viral almost instantly.

It wasn’t just the rare look at his home life that caught people’s eye—it was the names. Specifically, the middle name “Sekhar” has created a huge wave of curiosity and pride across India.
It turns out that Strider Sekhar’s name is a bit of a mashup between fantasy and hardcore science. “Strider” is a nod to the hero Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings, but “Sekhar” is where it gets interesting. Musk confirmed it’s a tribute to Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, the legendary Indian-American physicist.

Chandrasekhar actually won the Nobel Prize for his work on stars and black holes. For a guy like Musk, who is obsessed with space, naming his son after a titan of astrophysics makes total sense.
Deep Roots and a Punjabi Connection
There is also a very personal reason for this Indian connection. The twins’ mother, Shivon Zilis, has Punjabi roots through her mother. Zilis is a high-level tech executive at Neuralink, but she has clearly stayed in touch with her heritage.

By choosing the name Sekhar, the couple managed to honor a scientific genius while also celebrating the children’s cultural background. It’s a mix that feels a lot more thoughtful than your typical celebrity baby name.
Gaming Spells and a Massive, Growing Family Tree
On the flip side, his daughter’s name, Comet Azure, feels like it was pulled straight from a digital fantasy world. Musk actually admitted that the name comes from a legendary, high-powered spell in the game Elden Ring. It’s a classic move for him.
This specific mix of “high-science” for his son and “hardcore gaming” for his daughter is peak Elon Musk. It really shows that he isn’t afraid to let his personal obsessions and late-night gaming sessions influence the biggest, most permanent decisions in his life.
The twins arrived back in 2021 via IVF, but they are honestly just one piece of a much larger puzzle. As of early 2026, Musk is believed to have 14 children in total. Several of the newest additions, including his son Seldon Lycurgus and another son named Romulus, were born between late 2024 and early 2025.
While names like X Æ A-Xii usually just leave people scratching their heads in confusion, the “Sekhar” and “Seldon” tributes have actually been quite popular.
It’s a rare moment where the billionaire’s private world feels somewhat relatable, revealing a softer, more thoughtful side of a man who is usually only seen talking about the future of the human race.
