Annamalai Re-release in Singapore: Superstar Rajinikanth Celebrated With Special 75th Birthday Screenings

Rajinikanth turns 75 today — and fans around the world are marking the milestone with multiple re-releases rolling out across different countries. What began as a straightforward birthday comeback for Annamalai has since expanded into a wider celebration, with Padayappa, Baashha, Yajaman, and Sivaji joining the global line-up in various regions.

The announcements have come at different times and through different distributors, creating a staggered release pattern that looks slightly different from country to country.

Some markets are getting single-title birthday showcases, while others are seeing several Rajinikanth classics returning to the big screen at once.

Amid this varied international rollout, Singapore and Malaysia have firmed up their plans today with confirmed showtimes and clear schedules — giving Southeast Asian audiences a solid set of options for the Superstar’s 75th birthday.

Singapore: Annamalai Returns in Two Locations

Singapore is keeping its focus on one title for Rajinikanth’s birthday: Annamalai.

The remastered version screens today, giving fans a chance to revisit the iconic Rajini–Sarath Babu drama on the big screen.

Confirmed Singapore screenings:

  • Shaw Theatres Waterway Point — Annamalai, 12 December, 8:45pm
  • Carnival Cinemas Golden Mile Tower — Annamalai, 12 December, 8pm, with an additional show on 14 December at 11am

These screenings mark the local leg of Rajinikanth’s 75th birthday commemorations, alongside his 50th year in Indian cinema.

Malaysia: Baashha and Padayappa Lead a Bigger Line-Up

Malaysia, home to one of the largest Tamil-speaking audiences outside India, is marking the Superstar’s birthday with multiple re-releases.

Padayappa (1999)

  • Remastered 4K version
  • Presented by 3 Dot Movies
  • Screening across multiple locations nationwide

Baasha (1995)

  • Birthday re-release presented by LFS Cinemas
  • Bookings opened earlier this week and have been moving steadily

Malaysia is among the few regions screening both titles simultaneously, making it one of the busiest Rajinikanth birthday markets this year.

Part of a Larger International Rollout

These Southeast Asian screenings complement re-releases happening in the USA, France, India, Germany, Australia, and other regions — each contributing to a global birthday tribute for Rajinikanth. While Annamalai anchors the commemorations in many countries, Padayappa and Baasha have joined the line-up in select markets, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

As fans gather today to revisit these classics, the re-releases highlight how deeply Rajinikanth’s films continue to resonate across generations and continents.
