“Cutest Thing Ever”: Singaporean Sets Up a Cozy Bed for Community Cat, Melts Hearts
Facebook

On 15 November, a TikTok user, @/fuwenfries, shared a simple but moving act of love: he had quietly placed a fresh, fluffy bed at the void deck for the stray cats who hang around his block.

The previous one had become worn out and dirty, so he replaced it without hesitation.

The clip — just a few seconds of him laying out the new bed — garnered thousands of views.

And the comments section turned into a wholesome neighbourhood bulletin board.

Neighbours, Delivery Riders & Even The Vet Joined In

One commenter, who had just checked on the cat, reported back like a proud uncle:

“Just checked a few minutes ago. The cat is snoring soundly. 🥰”

A delivery rider chimed in too, recalling the time he passed through the block:

“Saw the cat house. Cutest thing ever — she was sleeping so peacefully.”

Then came a particularly emotional surprise: a vet who recognised the cat.

The vet, who had cared for her earlier this year, wrote that she missed the cat dearly and still had her photo as her phone wallpaper. The creator confirmed it immediately:

“YAS YAS!! She was! My neighbour took her to the vet! She had toothache and some other issues. We missed her so much when she was away for 2 months!”

The vet later shared a picture of the cat at the clinic — a moment the creator said showed “her look of recognising the one who cared for her”.

If you ever needed proof that community animals do create community, here it is.

But Not Everyone Has Been So Lucky

Alongside the sweetness were reminders of how fragile a community cat’s safety can be.

A Malaysian user commented that such setups would get removed instantly by cleaners in her area.

Another commenter recounted a heartbreaking experience: after she set up food and water bowls for a stray, cleaners repeatedly discarded them — and eventually, the management trapped the cat and relocated it.

She wrote about how she “went berserk”, and now feeds strays only when she can watch them finish — while helping raise funds for sterilisation and adoption.

Her message was clear: not every cat gets a happy ending.

The creator acknowledged that even in his area, beds sometimes get taken away:

“Sadly, they do get taken away! 🥲 But we have lovely neighbours who either buy a new one or temporarily replace it with cardboard.”

Still, support poured in. One commenter offered help and supplies, warning against revealing the block location “because so many koo koo people” exist.

The creator agreed, saying the neighbourhood genuinely loved and pampered the cat.

A Small Act, A Big Reminder

What started as one man quietly setting up a bed for a stray cat turned into something much larger: a window into how much Singaporeans genuinely care.

Not every community cat has a safe space, but kindness — even as simple as replacing a dirty bed — can ripple far beyond one void deck.

How You Can Help Your Neighbourhood Cats Too

If this man’s kindness inspired you to do the same, here are some simple ways to help community cats in Singapore, as noted by The Smart Local SG:

Feed responsibly

Stick to proper cat food — avoid leftovers or table scraps. Wet food helps keep cats hydrated in our heat.

Provide clean water

A small bowl of fresh water makes a big difference. Change it daily to prevent mosquito breeding.

Feed in quiet corners

Avoid lift lobbies, corridors and coffee shops. Choose sheltered, low-traffic spots to minimise conflict with residents.

Keep things clean

Always clear leftovers and throw away containers properly after feeding.

Work with others

Many neighbourhoods have informal feeder groups. Join or form one — it builds community and helps keep the cats safe, healthy and cared for.

A little gentleness goes a long way — just ask the cat who’s snoring soundly in her new fluffy bed tonight.
