Cambodian Keeper Scores in Nine Seconds
A Cambodian Premier League match has become global football’s newest talking point after Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC goalkeeper Vireak Dara scored just nine seconds after kick-off — a moment now under review for a potential world record.
The goal was recorded on 19 November during Svay Rieng’s 6–1 win over ISI Dangkor Senchey at AIA Stadium. Dara received a quick pass from midfielder Yudai Ogawa immediately after kick-off and launched a long ball that bounced past the opposing keeper.
The Cambodian Premier League has officially clocked the strike at nine seconds, making it the fastest goal in the league’s history.
Club Files Submission to Guinness World Records
According to Cambodianess, the club confirmed that a formal submission was sent to Guinness World Records on 20 November.
General manager Christopher Grant reportedly said the attempt seeks recognition for the fastest goal scored by a goalkeeper.
He called the moment “historic for the club and Cambodian football” but stressed that verification is still ongoing.
How Dara’s Goal Compares Globally
If validated, Dara’s strike would become the fastest goalkeeper goal ever recorded in league football worldwide.
It also beats several well-known keeper goals in recent history:
- Vireak Dara — 9 seconds (Cambodian Premier League, 19 Nov 2025)
- Asmir Begović — 13 seconds (Premier League, 2 Nov 2013)
- Paul Smith — 15 seconds (England League Cup, 18 Sept 2007)
- Matías Dituro — 18 seconds (Bolivia League, 26 Apr 2017)
Dara was also named Man of the Match, credited not only for the lightning-fast strike, but for key saves that kept the scoreline dominant.
