A TikTok video posted on 14 November by user @/matildefelicia has been gaining attention for its simple but powerful moment: a 60-year-old Singapore taxi driver offering life advice to a young traveller.

The creator — who appears to be Norwegian based on her TikTok account — has been backpacking across Asia since 1 November, visiting Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. 

A Short Ride, A Big Life Lesson

In the TikTok video, captioned ‘life advice from a 60 years old taxi driver in Singapore’, the taxi uncle shares a message that resonated with many viewers.

He tells her:

‘One thing is you have to build your mission in life. So you have to help as many people as possible or do something which impacts as many people as possible in a positive way. Then that gives you the drive to keep finding what you want in life.
Go and find your mission.’

The creator replies:

“Yeah, I hope I do.”

To which, the uncle reassuringly says,

‘You will, you will.’

The short conversation lasts only moments, but the sincerity in his tone struck a chord online.

Traveller’s Journey Through Asia

According to her social media updates, the user began her backpacking trip on 1 November. Her posts show stops in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand so far. The viral video was published during her time in Singapore, where she captured this unexpected but meaningful encounter.

She even shared pictures from her Singapore trip to Instagram, captioned, ‘If Singapore is not on the list of places you want to visit, it’s time you added it.’

Viewers React To The Uncle’s Words

The comment section had people appreciating the uncle’s warmth and clarity:
