“Singapore Airlines, You Rock My World”: UK Football Creator Stunned by Live Premier League at 30,000ft
Facebook

When UK football content creator Ollie Thomas — better known online as @/talkcpfc — boarded a long-haul Singapore Airlines flight two days ago, he wasn’t expecting his weekend to be made mid-air.

But a TikTok video he posted about that flight has now drawn stunned reactions from football fans worldwide and praise from Singaporeans proud of their national carrier.

Thomas, who boasts more than 150,000 followers across platforms, said he simply tapped the “Live TV” tab on his in-flight screen and realised something he had never heard of before — live Premier League football in economy class.

He ended up spending almost the entire 13-hour journey glued to match after match, with a steady supply of Tiger beer and snacks.

His TikTok comments section quickly filled with disbelief, envy, and applause for SIA’s service.

Live Premier League Football. In Economy. Mid-Flight.

Thomas opened his video by sharing how he boarded with Singapore Airlines, not expecting anything out of the ordinary. That changed fast.

He scrolled through the entertainment system, saw the “Live TV” tab, and tapped it “just to see if it worked.” At first, it looked like a rerun — until he saw a countdown to kickoff. He realised the broadcast was fully live.

The moment it clicked, he said his reaction was pure disbelief.

Across the flight, others struggled to get the feed working, but Thomas’ screen was “one of the only ones” that did. He joked he could feel people behind him staring at the highlights whenever he lifted his camera.

Thomas then spent the next nine hours watching:

  • Brentford vs Manchester United
  • Everton vs Fulham
  • Sunderland vs Arsenal
  • Chelsea vs Wolves

He said he had plenty downloaded on his phone but ignored all of it simply because “it’s Prem football” — and he knew he could only experience this once.

What He Ate, What He Drank, And Why He Loved It

While he declared he “hates plane food,” Thomas happily finished his meals on this flight.

The first meal — a mushroom crepe with spinach, sausage, tomato and hash browns — surprised him. He liked everything except the sun-dried tomato.

Later, he had wild rice chicken, a slaw, prawn cocktail, and a toffee chocolate chip cheesecake he described as “delish.”

Beer was free, and he admitted he made full use of that.

He also loved the self-serve snack station stocked with apples, Doritos, crisps, Oreos, Kit Kats and sandwiches — open to passengers throughout the flight.

Who Is Ollie Thomas?

Thomas is a familiar voice in the football community. He is a Crystal Palace fan, podcaster and content creator with: 107.1K TikTok followers and 11.6K Instagram followers.

He hosts the Talk Crystal Palace Podcast, where he covers everything from match analysis to transfers and fan discussions.

On his podcast listing, he describes himself as “a South Londoner who loves the boys in red and blue.” His style is known for being analytical but rooted in fan emotion — the kind of commentary Palace supporters trust and return to.

But this time, it wasn’t Palace’s form or tactics that made waves, it was Singapore Airlines.

Positivity All Around

Many viewers — especially Singaporeans and football fans — flocked to the comments stunned that live Premier League broadcasts are available in economy.

The praise was constant: the service, the food, the beer, the snacks, the entertainment system.

Thomas ended the video standing in Australia, declaring:
“Singapore Airlines, I love you. You rock my world.”

And from the looks of the reactions online, he’s definitely not the only one feeling that way.
