A disturbing case from India’s Pune has shocked many across the region.

A government officer has been booked after allegedly spying on his wife, recording her bathing secretly, and threatening to leak the videos online if she did not bring money from her parents to help him repay his home and car loans.

Police Report Filed After Hidden Cameras Discovered

According to police, the woman — also a Class I officer — lodged a complaint after discovering hidden cameras installed throughout the house, including inside the bathroom. She alleged that her husband monitored her remotely while at work and used the footage to intimidate her.

The couple married in 2020, but over the years, he allegedly became suspicious of her character and subjected her to physical and mental harassment.

Demand for ₹1.5 Lakh (approximately S$2,172) to Pay Loan EMIs

Police said the husband threatened to release the bathing videos unless she brought approximately S$2,172 from her parents to cover his loans.
The woman also claimed her in-laws had repeatedly demanded money and a car since the wedding.

A case has been registered against the husband and seven members of his family under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to blackmail, domestic abuse, exploitation, and violation of privacy.

Investigation Underway

Investigators are now analysing the surveillance devices and recovering footage to gather further evidence.

As of now, no arrests have been made, and police say action will be taken after a full review of the electronic evidence.

A Shocking Violation of Trust

Marriage is supposed to be built on trust, but this case shows how privacy can be violated inside one’s own home. Many online users expressed anger and disbelief after hearing about the incident.

The woman is currently receiving support from her family while police continue the investigation.

Reactions From The Public

The news spread quickly on social media platforms, with many commenting about the danger of such acts.

One woman commented she was afraid of getting married. Online discussions also focused on the mental trauma faced by the victim, as she not only lost trust in her husband but also had to face public attention about her private life.
