A shocking classroom incident in Hanoi, Vietnam, has gone viral after a 7th-grade student attacked his teacher at Dai Kim Secondary School, Dinh Cong Ward.

The incident occurred at around 3:20 p.m. on September 16, according to CCTV footage.
Teacher Confiscated Toy, Student Reacted Violently
Surveillance footage showed the teacher asking a female student to hand over a sharp toy belonging to the boy, identified as L.G.B
He reacted violently. He grabbed his teacher’s hand, pulled her hair, pushed her head down, and dragged her to the ground until he retrieved the toy.

The toy resembled a knife and was about 16 cm long.

Video Sparks Public Outrage
The video began circulating widely on September 19, triggering anger and disbelief among parents and the public.
Many expressed concern about teacher safety and rising violence in schools.
None of the Students Intervened
According to VTC News, what further frustrated viewers was that although other students witnessed the assault, none stepped in to help.

When asked later, they admitted they were too afraid, describing the boy as aggressive and larger in size while holding the sharp object.
Immediate School Action
School officials required the boy to apologize to his teacher in front of the class immediately after the incident.
The teacher, identified as T.T.T.H., later reported the matter to the school principal.
The boy’s parents were called in for a meeting and admitted wrongdoing. They requested that their son take 10 days off from school for home discipline, which the school approved.
Students to Submit Written Reports
Students, including the girl who held the toy, were asked to submit written reports explaining their lack of intervention.
Teacher Forgives, But Case Deemed Serious
A representative from Dinh Cong Ward confirmed on September 19 that the teacher had chosen to forgive the boy, understanding he was going through puberty.
However, the ward considered the case serious and requested police involvement to prevent similar incidents.
Education Ministry Responds
On September 20, the Director of the Department of Teachers and Educational Administrators at the Ministry of Education and Training called the case “serious,” warning that it endangered teachers, harmed the classroom environment, and violated Vietnam’s long tradition of respecting educators, VN Express reported.
He stressed that while such acts must be dealt with firmly, discipline should still provide opportunities for students to correct mistakes rather than face long-term stigma.
The ministry directed Hanoi’s education authorities to strengthen classroom safety, expand psychological counseling, and identify abnormal student behavior early so schools and families can provide proper care.
