A 28-year-old cyclist, Low Beng Seng, lost his life after colliding with a car during a cycling event in Langkawi on Saturday morning, 6 September 2025.

The incident occurred at about 8.30 am along Jalan Kuala Muda, where Low was riding as part of the 68-kilometre Eagle Ride group under the Langkawi Legendary Ride (LLR).
He was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering severe head injuries, according to BERNAMA.
How the Collision Happened
Langkawi police chief Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari said initial investigations revealed the accident occurred when Low attempted to avoid another cyclist.
As he swerved, he veered into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming car driven by a 36-year-old woman.

The collision caused fatal head injuries, and his body was later sent to the Forensic Unit of Sultanah Maliha Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Case Under Investigation
Police confirmed the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
A 20-second video related to the accident has also circulated on social media.
About the Langkawi Legendary Ride
The tragedy occurred during the fifth edition of the Langkawi Legendary Ride, which drew around 1,200 riders from Malaysia and abroad, NST reported.
The event featured three categories: the 101km Legendary Ride, the 68km Eagle Ride, and the 30km Mahsuri Ride.
Winners in each category stood a chance to take home:
- RM1,000 (approx. S$304.54) for first place,
- RM800 (approx. S$243.63) for the second, and
- RM600 (approx. S$182.71) for the third.
