A man was captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) allegedly pretending to be a food delivery rider before walking off with a food order from OK Chicken Rice.
The incident, according to the shop’s Facebook post, took place on Saturday, 28 June 2025, around 12.05 pm, and was made public on their official Facebook page on Monday, 30 June 2025.
CCTV Footage
The video shows two individuals arriving at the shop at different moments. The first man appears to be a legitimate delivery rider who collects his food order directly from the staff at the counter.
Shortly after, a second man, dressed in a dark-coloured long-sleeve shirt, enters the outlet.
He walks over to the table where food orders are typically placed for rider collection, looks over the items, and takes the one positioned farthest away before leaving the shop.
At no point is he seen interacting with staff or verifying the order.
OK Chicken Rice’s Facebook Post
In a Facebook post uploaded alongside the CCTV footage, OK Chicken Rice, signed off by presumably the owner (Daniel), claimed there has been a recurring issue of people allegedly impersonating food delivery riders and taking food that does not belong to them.
In the post, he described how these incidents disrupt operations, lead to confusion among staff, frustrate real riders and customers, and result in wasted time and resources.
Police Report Lodged
According to a police report lodged by the shop, the man stole four bento lemon cutlet rice sets, each priced at S$16.60, amounting to S$66.40 in total.

The report describes the suspect as wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and a black helmet that obscured his facial features.
He is estimated to be 170–175 cm tall with a medium build. Staff members witnessed the theft but could not stop him in time.
Public Comments and Reactions
The incident sparked responses on both Facebook and Reddit, with users expressing a mix of criticism, concern, and shared experiences.
On Facebook, one user questioned the shop’s verification process, suggesting that staff could simply check order numbers before handing over food.
OK Chicken Rice responded by stating that they already have systems in place, but with their daily delivery volume, reportedly around $2,000 per outlet across 18 outlets, mistakes are inevitable.
Another Facebook commenter described the man’s actions as theft and sarcastically remarked that “there’s free food in jail.”
One added, “No money to buy food, then steal food.”
Over on Reddit, users debated the practicality and security of placing orders unattended.
One noted that shops choosing to leave food on a table without verifying order IDs could only blame themselves if it went missing.
Another stated they had always wondered how common it was for people to walk up and take orders without checks, suggesting this kind of incident might not be rare.
A third Redditor shared a personal experience involving a different food outlet.
