Left Alone for Mere Minutes
A two-year-old boy in Chongqing, China, miraculously survived after falling from the 20th floor of a high-rise apartment building.

The incident occurred on the morning of June 19 (Thursday) at around 8:47 am, while the child, Qiang Qiang (pseudonym), was under his grandmother’s care.
According to Singtao, she had briefly stepped out, thinking the toddler was asleep. However, during her absence, he reportedly woke up, climbed over the balcony railing, and accidentally fell.
Vegetation Helped Break His Fall
Qiang Qiang’s fall was partially cushioned by a tree and nearby bushes, which helped reduce the impact significantly.
He was still bleeding from the mouth and nose when found, according to reports.
Although he sustained serious injuries, WeirdKaya reported that the fall caused multiple fractures and internal trauma.
The vegetation that broke his fall is believed to have played a crucial role in saving his life.
A Swift and Selfless Rescue
A security guard stationed at the apartment compound rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency alert.
Seeing the child in his grandmother’s arms and bleeding heavily, the guard made a split-second decision to carry him to the nearest hospital about 800 metres away, instead of waiting for an ambulance.

After running 600 metres, he encountered a police officer, who then took over and carried the boy the remaining distance to the hospital.
Rescue and Hospital Response Within 16 Minutes
At the hospital, doctors found Qiang Qiang unconscious, with abnormal pupils and in critical condition.
According to the attending physician at the hospital, they immediately activated a trauma emergency protocol.
Several departments worked together to stabilise his vital signs.

Fortunately, and thanks to the quick action of both the rescuers and the medical team, Qiang Qiang’s condition was stabilised within just 16 minutes, before he was transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University for further care.
