A three-month-old baby boy died after being accidentally pinned under his father’s arm when the man suffered a fatal heart attack in his sleep.
The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, 19 June 2025, at their family home on Jalan Perigi Hang Tuah, Melaka.
Baby Scheduled for Vaccination
The infant, Muhammad Nur Daniel Nurul Effendy, was the youngest of three siblings.

His mother, Azura Abdul Malik, 40, had returned home that morning to take the baby for a scheduled vaccination at a local clinic when she made the discovery.
Mother Found Both Unresponsive in Bed
According to Sinar Harian, Azura said she was shocked to find her husband, Nurul Effendy Ibrahim, 35, lying unconscious in bed with their baby beneath his arm.

“I was shocked because there was no trace of blood. When I entered the bedroom, I saw both of them unconscious on the bed.”
Rushed to the Hospital but Could Not Be Saved
She noticed the baby was still breathing, though very weak, and rushed both her husband and son to the Emergency and Trauma Department at Melaka Hospital.
Unfortunately, the baby was pronounced dead during treatment, and her husband was confirmed to have died earlier at home.

Father Had Complained of Chest Pain Before the Incident
In another report by New Straits Times, Nurul Effendy had complained of chest pain the day before but refused to seek medical treatment.
His sister, Masturadiana, 33, who lives nearby, said she was alerted by Azura knocking on her door for help.

According to her, the baby had turned blue and appeared unconscious after being pinned under her brother’s arm.
She immediately told Azura to bring the baby to the hospital and told others in the house to call an ambulance for her brother.
Masturadiana also believed that her brother had likely died two to three hours earlier.
Wife Had Just Returned to Work After Maternity Leave
Prior to the incident, Azura had left home early around 6:00 a.m. to send her two older children, aged 15 and 16, to school before briefly stopping at work.
That morning marked her first day back on duty following maternity leave.
She then returned shortly afterward to take her youngest for his routine immunisation.
Emergency Call Prompted Gas Leak Inspection
The Bukit Katil Fire and Rescue Station received a call from the hospital at 9:58 a.m. requesting assistance.
Senior Fire Officer II Mohd Supian Md. Dali confirmed that the hospital had asked responders to inspect the house for possible gas leaks.
However, no hazardous substances were found during the inspection.
The inspection was later called off after investigations pointed to a likely medical cause.
