Wife Files Complaint Against Husband After Losing Instagram Followers Due to Housework

A bizarre domestic dispute in Hapur district, Uttar Pradesh, India, caught attention after a woman lodged a police complaint against her husband.

She claimed her husband’s demands for her to prioritise household chores took up so much of her time that it affected her ability to stay active on Instagram, which she said led to a drop in her follower count.

Social Media Activity Disrupted by Chores

Identified as Nisha, the woman told police she used to post two Instagram reels daily, but her husband Vijendra kept her busy with household tasks.

This disrupted her content routine, leading to a decrease in her followers.

Reports stated that she became less active online after her husband suggested her to focus more on domestic duties.

Tensions rose when she noticed that two followers had unfollowed her, leading to a confrontation. She then left for her parental home and filed the complaint.

Husband Files Counter-Complaint

According to Deccan Herald, Vijendra later submitted a counter-complaint, alleging Nisha of neglecting household responsibilities due to her social media involvement.

He also claimed she had threatened to leave him if she couldn’t continue posting content.

Police Counseling and Current Status

Police conducted several rounds of counseling sessions with the couple.

While some reports claimed the matter had been resolved and that Nisha had returned to her husband, News18 reported they were still living apart at the time of publication.

Job Loss Amid Dispute

Amid the ongoing tension, Vijendra reportedly lost his job and is currently attending interviews in search of new employment.

A Case That Turned Heads

The nature of the dispute, centered around social media followers and household responsibilities, has drawn attention in the local community.

While disagreements between spouses are common, a police complaint linked to Instagram engagement is far less typical.
