A woman in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China, narrowly survived a horrifying knife attack last month thanks to an unexpected layer of protection: her breast implants.
On Thursday, May 22, at around 5:40 PM, the woman, surnamed Ma, had just finished shopping at Hangzhou’s shopping mall when she was suddenly held hostage at knifepoint in the parking lot by a stranger, according to ET Today.
Attacker Demanded Parking Payment, Then Turned Violent
According to SCMP, the attacker, an unidentified man, reportedly forced his way into Ma’s car and demanded that Ma pay the parking fee before forcing her to leave the mall with him.
While the man was distracted, Ma quietly managed to send a message to her boyfriend, alerting him to the situation.
Her boyfriend, using the location feature on her smartphone from a computer at home, was able to pinpoint her exact location.
He then immediately contacted the local police and provided them with her whereabouts.
Police Arrived, Then the Stabbing Began
As police arrived on the scene, the suspect suddenly became violent.
According to reports, Ma recounted how the man began “stabbing her chest repeatedly” with a knife.

Despite her efforts to block the attack with her hands, she was overpowered and eventually collapsed inside her car after opening the door.
She lost consciousness shortly after the stabbing.
After stabbing Ma, the attacker reportedly turned the knife towards himself.
Breast Implants Prevented Fatal Injuries
Ma was rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
Additionally, Ma said she counted and had more than 20 stab wounds across her body.

However, one stab wound had punctured her lung, which, fortunately, doctors confirmed was not life-threatening.
Medical staff noted that her breast implants absorbed most of the force from the stab wounds, preventing more critical damage to her internal organs.
Suspect Died by Suicide, Case Closed
Following the attack, the suspect reportedly died by suicide shortly after. Despite emergency treatment, he did not survive.
Authorities confirmed that the case has been closed.
Ma has since been discharged from the hospital, but expressed disappointment over how the case was handled, particularly its closure following the death of her attacker.
