A man in Indonesia was arrested after allegedly stabbing a satay vendor in a violent attack triggered by dissatisfaction with the food’s quality.
The suspect, 33-year-old Erwin Suhendri, reportedly became angry after complaining that the sauce served with the satay was too watery and the skewers were unclean.
The incident took place on Friday night, May 30, 2025, at around 8.30 pm in Dusun Taman Sari, Pekon Tanjung Agung, a village located in the Pugung sub-district, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province, according to Detik.com.
Arrested at His Home in the Early Hours
The suspect was arrested within hours of the incident. According to Pugung Police Chief Ipda Alfiyan Almasruri Ali, Erwin was taken into custody at his home early the next morning.
“A man with the initials ES was arrested after stabbing a satay vendor named Suje’i (33). We apprehended him last Saturday.”
Following his arrest at 1 am on Saturday, May 31, Erwin was detained at the Pugung police station for further investigation.
Watery Sauce and Dirty Skewers Sparked the Conflict
Police said the stabbing occurred after the suspect expressed anger over the satay he had previously bought from the vendor.
“The perpetrator complained that the soy sauce was watery and the skewers were considered unclean and got stuck in his mouth. He became angry and disappointed with the satay he had bought.”
Fueled by that frustration, Erwin allegedly took out a knife and attacked the vendor.
Vendor Sustained Multiple Serious Injuries
According to reports, the victim, identified as Suje’i, 33, suffered multiple stab wounds in the attack.
The victim suffered injuries to the right side of the neck, left hand, and chest due to repeated attacks from the perpetrator using a sharp weapon, a knife.
The victim was then rushed to the hospital for treatment, and as of the time of the report, his condition had not been publicly disclosed.
