A young Taiwanese social media influencer known for her unconventional beauty content, where she ‘eats’ cosmetic products on camera, has died unexpectedly at the age of 24.
Known for Allegedly ‘Eating’ Makeup Products That Worried Viewers
The beauty influencer, known online as Guava Beauty, attracted a following of over 12,000 followers for her bizarre beauty videos, where she showcases the products and allegedly consumes them.
Instead of meals, the influencer consumed beauty items like lipsticks, blush, cotton pads, and many others.
Some called her actions as ‘makeup mukbang.’

According to the South China Morning Post, she was admired for her “sweet, youthful image” and quirky content, however, many fans expressed concern over the possible health consequences of eating non-edible products.
Video Featured Jelly-Like Blush Product
In one of her pinned videos from late 2024, she showcased a blush with a jelly texture.
She applied it to her face, then scooped it with a fork and chewed it in front of the camera.

While some fans were amused, others grew increasingly uneasy.
Viewers were worried about her actions being aired on the internet.
Profile Bio Changed Hours Before Death Announcement
According to the Daily Mail, on May 24, 2025, her profile bio was changed to something cryptic.
It appeared to signal a farewell, mentioning that she was “logging out from the world” and embarking on a “new journey,” while noting that all business collaborations were suspended.
Later the same day, her family issued a public statement through her Instagram account, confirming her death, following a ‘sudden illness’.
“It is with deep regret that we inform everyone that our beloved treasure girl of beauty mukbangs, officially put down her makeup tools on May 24, 2025.”

The post also expressed gratitude to her fans for liking and supporting her.
Speculation Surrounding the Cause of Death
As no official cause of death was revealed, many have speculated about what led to her sudden death.
Sinar Harian reported that some believed she might have died due to chemical poisoning from the cosmetic products she allegedly consumed, while others suspected a sudden heart attack.
Mukbang Trend Faces Renewed Scrutiny
Originally a way to share meals and connect with viewers, the mukbang trend has gradually shifted toward more extreme and risky content.
Guava Beauty’s version pushed those boundaries further, sparking both fascination and serious concern.
Similar but Unrelated Incident
Another recent case highlights the dangers of this genre.
In Türkiye, Efecan Kultur, a 24-year-old mukbang influencer, died on March 7, 2025, after suffering from obesity-related health complications.
According to reports, he had been hospitalized for months and was bedridden in his final weeks.
His years of eating excessive portions for online videos eventually took a toll on his body.
His death has led to renewed debate in Türkiye, with authorities now proposing legislation to restrict access to such content for users under 16.
