A man in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia, was forced to get creative after discovering that a Perodua Myvi’s steering wheel had been stolen while it was parked at a hospital.
Tow Truck Worker Uses Pliers to Steer Myvi
A TikTok video uploaded by @/wan_towing, a local towing company, showed a tow truck worker calmly steering the Myvi using pliers.
Without the steering wheel, he latched the pliers onto the exposed bolt in the middle of the steering column and carefully drove the car onto the back of a tow truck.
Video of the Incident Goes Viral
The 45-second clip quickly went viral, with over 639k views and thousands of amused comments. It also revealed the aftermath of the theft: shattered glass scattered on the carpet and under the dashboard.
In the video caption, the man joked, “Who stole my steering wheel? You better confess.”
Netizens Praise the Improvised Solution
Malaysians were both shocked and entertained by the video, with many praising the worker’s quick thinking.
“Finally, someone made a video showing how to drive when your steering gets stolen.”
“I thought only my manual washing machine needed pliers, turns out they can steer cars too. One tool, many uses.”
“People nowadays are weird… even stealing steering wheels? hmmm”
“Driving with pliers like that actually looks pretty cool.”
