Johor Woman Kidnaps Ex-Boyfriend From His Workplace After Their Breakup, Four Suspects Arrested

Victim Was Taken from His Workplace

A breakup took an absurd turn in Johor when a woman, who was unable to accept the end of her relationship, allegedly kidnapped her ex-boyfriend from his workplace with the help of three accomplices.

According to an official police statement, the victim, a 26-year-old Sri Lankan man, was working at a car wash in Gelang Patah on February 28, 2025, when he was forcibly taken away at around 9 AM.

His employer, a 42-year-old local man, noticed his sudden disappearance and reported the incident to the police at 10:23 AM.

Four arrested within 24 hours

Acting on the report, a team from the Iskandar Puteri District Police Criminal Investigation Department tracked down and arrested two men and two women, aged 18 to 37, in Kuala Selangor, Selangor, and Bestari Jaya, Selangor, between 12:30 AM and 7:30 AM on March 1.

In addition, police confirmed that none of the suspects tested positive for drugs, though one had a prior criminal record.

Officers also seized four mobile phones and two cars believed to be linked to the crime.

Abduction Planned After the Victim Ended Their Relationship

Investigations revealed that the abduction was personal—one of the female suspects was the victim’s ex-girlfriend.

After the breakup, she and her accomplices allegedly took him away against his will.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

All four suspects were remanded until March 7 for further investigations.

On March 7, the two male suspects were charged under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping, read together with Section 34 for group involvement in a crime.

If convicted, they face up to seven years in prison and a fine.

Meanwhile, the two female suspects were released on a surety bond under Section 118 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The case is set for mention in court on March 27.

Police Urge the Public to Avoid Criminal Activities

Following the arrests, ACP Kumarasan A/L Muniandy, the Iskandar Puteri district police chief, reminded the public not to resort to crime and urged anyone with information on illegal activities to contact the police.
