A 37-year-old woman was arrested after a CCTV recording showed her repeatedly slapping her four-year-old daughter outside a supermarket in Jejawi, Perlis. The incident reportedly took place on February 9.
In a report by Harian Metro, police detained the woman, who works as a canteen worker, near Mata Ayer, Perlis.

According to Malay Mail, the woman was arrested at her rented room in Jejawi at 11:30 PM on February 10 after police received a video via WhatsApp around 10 PM.
Additionally, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development of Malaysia, Nancy Shukri, shared on her X account that the Child Development Department (JPKK) protector contacted the PDRM’s D11 to take immediate action.
Child Hit Her Head Twice Before Bleeding
The video showed the woman striking the child multiple times, causing her to fall and hit her head against the edge of the bench.
The girl managed to get back up, but the woman hit her again, making her head collide with the bench a second time.
This impact left her bleeding.
Incident Happened in Public
Arau District Police Chief Superintendent Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi said the incident is believed to have happened on the sidewalk in front of the supermarket where people were seen in the video walking past the lady and her children in Jejawi, Arau, Perlis.
“The suspect will be brought to court for remand to assist in the investigation,” he added.
According to reports, Kangar Magistrate Ana Rozana Mohd Nor granted a six-day remand order on February 11 to facilitate investigations.
Child Received Medical Treatment
Following the incident, the child, who suffered a wound on her right eyebrow, and required stitches, received medical treatment.
It was also reported that the woman has a husband, who is also a canteen worker, and another daughter, aged two years old.
Investigation Underway
Police are investigating the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which deals with child abuse and neglect.
