The King of Fruits Meets Convenience
Durians are often called the “king of fruits” for their distinctive smell, creamy texture, and bold, bittersweet flavor. Among the many types of durians, Mao Shan Wang is especially popular.
Known for its rich, custard-like texture and strong taste, it has become a favorite for many durian enthusiasts.
Now, durian fans in Singapore will have a more convenient way to enjoy this beloved fruit.
Local durian seller Kaki Kaki has set up a vending machine at Tampines MRT station, offering fresh Mao Shan Wang durians starting January 20.
Premium Durian at an Affordable Price
A 400g box of Mao Shan Wang typically sells for $38, but during the promotional period from January 24 to February 12, Kaki Kaki is offering them at just $18.88.
This initiative aims to make high-quality durians more accessible to the public without compromising on their premium quality.
Freshness and Sustainability
Kaki Kaki ensures the durians remain fresh by using a cold-chain process, which preserves the fruit’s quality from the farm all the way to the vending machine.
In an effort to reduce waste, any unsold durians will be made into puree and used for cakes.
According to the Straits Times, C.Y. Wong, co-founder of Kaki Kaki, shared that vending machines help streamline operations and provide customers with consistent quality.
With more than 10 years of experience in the durian business, Kaki Kaki takes care in handling each durian to keep it fresh and flavorful.
Special Deals and Online Options
Prefer to savor the King of Fruits from the comfort of your home? Kaki Kaki offers online ordering, and there’s more to celebrate!
During the promotional period, purchasing three boxes of premium Mao Shan Wang durians (at $38 each outside the promotional window) guarantees you a prize in the Kaki Kaki Ang Pow Box Giveaway.
Prizes include cash rewards of up to $500, making this an irresistible deal for durian lovers this festive season.
Expanding Access to Premium Durians
The vending machine at Tampines MRT station is part of Kaki Kaki’s efforts to bring premium durians to more locations across Singapore.
The company has also set up vending machines at condominiums like:
- Parc Oasis in Jurong East and
- Casa Merah in Tanah Merah
For those who want a more traditional shopping experience, Kaki Kaki continues to run a stall at Tiong Bahru Market.
By working directly with Malaysian farmers and cutting out middlemen, Kaki Kaki can offer durians at competitive prices while maintaining high standards.
This fresh approach is changing how locals enjoy their durian fix.
