A barber in Ang Thong province, Thailand, has alarmed the local community after being caught masturbating in full view of passersby through his shop’s clear glass window.
The incidents occurred multiple times near Ang Thong Technical College. Students, shop owners, and pedestrians witnessed the inappropriate acts during periods when the barber’s shop was empty.
The events came to light on December 7, 2024, when Channel 7 reported on the issue after locals submitted video evidence to authorities and the media to prompt action.
Witnesses Share Their Accounts
Noi, a 40-year-old woman and shop owner whose store is located directly across from the barbershop, said the barber had been behaving this way for some time.
She mentioned that he would perform the acts when there were no customers in his shop, facing the glass window so that everything was clearly visible.
“It’s not just me who saw it; nearby shops and students passing by witnessed it too,” she told Channel 7.
Noi and other witnesses decided to record the incidents as evidence and report them to authorities out of concern for public safety.
Wife Reacts to Husband’s Behaviour
The barber’s wife, who only learned of her husband’s actions after seeing the viral videos, expressed shock and regret.
Speaking to Channel 7, she admitted she never imagined her husband would act this way. She apologized saying, “I am deeply sorry and scared. I never thought he would do something like this.”
Noi also shared that the barber’s wife personally visited her to apologize. Despite the shock, Noi sympathized with her and the couple’s children, expressing hope that the man would seek professional help to prevent further incidents.
Police Take Action
Officers from the Mueang Ang Thong Police Station acted swiftly after receiving complaints and visited the barbershop to confront the barber. They issued a warning, describing his behavior as causing public distress.
Additionally, police informed him that any repeat offenses would lead to legal consequences under public decency laws.
A Community Left Uneasy
The barber’s repeated misconduct has left the Ang Thong community uneasy, with many urging the family to address the issue.
Witnesses, including Noi, emphasized the need for the man to seek mental health intervention to safeguard public spaces and his well-being, although the family has not confirmed whether they intend to pursue such treatment.
As this case continues to draw attention, locals hope the authorities and family will take adequate steps to prevent further incidents.
