Australian actress Yerin Ha recently addressed the criticism of supposed racism against her following the “Bridgerton” team’s Spanish tour to promote the fourth season of the show.

The actress was recently asked about the online debate regarding the previous controversy, in which fans expressed discomfort with how she was treated by the media there—from her having to share the limelight with fellow actress Hannah Dodd despite being the star of the season to the misspelling of her name as “Yern Ha.”

She expressed, “What’s really interesting is that I never [took an] attack or racist remark toward me personally. I do think there were specific details that may have been overlooked, and I don’t think it was by intention or by conscious choice, so I never felt it personally. But, looking back and seeing the comments, I can possibly understand why people might think that way.”

Ha stated that she would rather have a more constructive response to the situation, but that the media might also learn to pay more attention to details and respect the leads.

“It is something that I’ve had to work on a lot in my career personally. I just think we can all learn from the situation rather than condemning or going the route of hatred,” she added.

Ha plays the role of Sophie Baek in the fourth season of the hit Netflix show, who is the love interest of the free-spirited Bridgerton sibling, Benedict. The season is based on the third novel from the Julia Quinn series, titled “An Offer from a Gentleman.”
