Berlin has made one of the most strange and yet significant changes to the regulations in its public swimming pools. In the near future women will be able to swim without any clothes, as men do.

This was decided after a woman presented a discrimination complaint when employees informed her that she was not allowed to enter a pool without covering her chest. It was later realized that the rule was not fair and should be altered by the authorities of the city.
A Grievance That Opened a large-scale Discussion
The complaining woman has not been fully identified. But her case did not take long to get to the office of justice and anti-discrimination in the capital of Germany.
She cited that since men can be given the right to swim naked, women should be given the same privilege. Based on the authorities, the argument put forward a critical question regarding equality and contemporary social rules.

On examination of the case, the Berlin Senate of Justice, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination took her side. Authorities indicated that the old regulation discriminated people on the basis of gender. Due to that, the city concluded that the policy regarding the swimming pools had to be revised.
Equal Playing Fields at the Pool
The new guideline will answer the question as all visitors will adhere to the same rules when entering the public swimming pools in Berlin. This involves both men and women as well as those who identify themselves as non-binary. Anyone will be free to swim naked at will.

The officials of the city justified that the city should treat people equally in the public space. They also claimed that the transformation is a reflection of the contemporary views regarding personal freedom and gender equality.
To a number of residents, the update can be regarded as a measure towards equal treatment under normal circumstances.
Meanwhile, the government states that visitors should not stop being respectful and adhering to overall pool rules. Life guards and personnel will be on the lookout of safety at all times and will ensure that all feel at ease at the facilities.
When the New Rule Will Begin
Even though the decision has been issued, the date in which the new rule is to be enforced has still not been established. The city government is in the process of collaborating with the swimming pool operators by modifying their official policies and educating people.
There is also a possibility that there are individuals who might not agree with the change. The cultural perception of topless swimming may vary significantly, even within a particular city. It is due to this that officials anticipate argument amongst residents after the rule starts being introduced.
