The incident unfolded at around 7:23 p.m. on Aug. 2 in Okpo-dong.

Pulled Out Knives, Children Ran in Fear

The woman, in her 20s, quietly walked around the aisles before suddenly pulling out two knives and holding them up. Children who noticed her ran off in fear.

Employees Attempted to Calm Her Down

Supermarket staff tried to approach her, but when she moved toward them with the knives still in hand, they quickly backed away.

Some used umbrellas as makeshift protection while urging her to drop the weapons, but she ignored them.

Police Response Brought the Situation Under Control

Police officers soon arrived at the scene. They pointed a Taser at her while ordering her to put the knives down.

After a short standoff, she sat down, allowing officers to subdue and arrest her without anyone being injured.

Odd Replies During Interrogation

According to the Korea Times, when officers later asked her why she had brought knives or if she carried any other weapons, she refused to give direct answers.

Instead, she only meowed, saying, “I can’t tell you, meow.”

When asked about her mobile phone, she also responded with, “Why would I tell you that, meow.”

Authorities Confirm Mental Health Background

Investigators later revealed that the woman had a prior record of mental illness. After being taken into custody, she was placed under compulsory psychiatric hospitalization.
