New Year’s Eve is all about joy, sweets and the hope of a new beginning. But in Mumbai, India, that night turned into a horrific incident. Late at night on 31 December, a 25-year-old married woman called her married boyfriend to her house.

Although she called him on the pretext of giving him New Year’s sweets, the meeting ended in bloody violence.
Long-Standing Relationship
Police investigation revealed that the accused woman and the injured man had a six- to seven-year relationship. The relationship was not only secret but also complicated from a family perspective.

The accused woman was the sister-in-law of the victim’s sister. Although the relationship deepened over time, it eventually turned into pressure and conflict.
Pressure on Marriage
According to sources, the woman had been pressuring the man to leave his wife and get married for a long time. They often argued over this issue.

The victim, allegedly mentally disturbed, went to Bihar last November. However, the threats and pressure continued there too.
New Year’s Trap
After returning to Mumbai on 19 December, the victim avoided contact with the woman. However, on 31 December, around 1:30 am, the woman asked him to come home. Her children were sleeping at home.

According to the complaint, she first asked the victim to undress and then took a sharp knife from the kitchen and attacked her private parts.
Serious Injuries
Despite bleeding profusely after the attack, the victim was able to reach his home. From there, his family members rushed him to the hospital. He was first shifted to VN Desai Hospital and later to Sion Hospital.

According to doctors, the injuries are very serious and may require surgery.
Police Investigation
The police have registered a case against the accused woman under multiple sections, including aggravated assault and intimidation. She is currently absconding, and multiple teams are working to arrest her. Investigators are also probing the psychological and family aspects behind the incident.
