Water Supply Disruption in Johor Bahru and Tebrau on July 15-16

Scheduled Water Disruption in Johor Bahru and Tebrau

Starting 9 a.m. on July 15, ending 11 a.m. on July 16, Johor Bahru and Tebrau residents and businesses will face a 26-hour water supply disruption. The interruption affects over 30,000 user accounts and results from essential maintenance at the Sultan Iskandar Water Treatment Plant in Pasir Gudang.

The local water utility, Ranhill SAJ, is maintaining vital equipment to guarantee the water supply system’s long-term stability and security. The utility aims to maintain water quality in line with standards set by the National Water Services Commission (SPAN).

Mitigation and Advice for Residents and Visitors

To minimise inconvenience, Ranhill SAJ will deploy water tankers to supply critical locations such as hospitals, dialysis centres, and institutions requiring continuous water access.

Users are urged to store sufficient water before the shutdown and to use water prudently during the 26-hour period.

Regular updates will be available via Ranhill SAJ’s official website, Facebook page, and customer hotline (1800-88-7474).

Why the Maintenance Matters

The scheduled shutdown is a proactive step to maintain and upgrade vital treatment plant infrastructure. These works aim to ensure consistent water quality and supply reliability for Johor’s growing population, including frequent Singapore visitors who often cross the border to JB for work and leisure.
