Sri Lanka’s Navy released video footage showing its personnel rescuing Iranian sailors from a distressed vessel off the country’s southern coast.
The footage shows sailors being transferred to naval craft and receiving emergency medical treatment following the humanitarian rescue operation. Rescued personnel were later brought ashore, assisted on the dock, and transported by ambulance for further care.
According to Sri Lankan naval sources, the Iranian ship, IRIS Dena, was struck by a torpedo fired by a US submarine. The navy reported recovering 87 bodies and rescuing 32 survivors from the incident.
The operation highlights ongoing tensions in the region and the continued risk to maritime navigation in international waters.
