At the Score Marathon 2025 in Putrajaya, Malaysia, one runner stood out, not because of his speed, but because of the support system beside him.
Adry Fazmi, a visually impaired man, completed the 21 km run with the help of his best friend, Ammar, who acted as his guide.
Wrists Tied Together
Their wrists were tied together with a resistance band, allowing Ammar to give directional cues, while their friend Aida ran alongside to provide added safety.
The group’s coordination and spirit were captured in viral videos shared on TikTok, which moved many viewers across the country.
A Small Note With a Big Message
Pinned to Adry’s back during the race was a short note informing fellow runners that he is OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) or a disabled person with visual impairments. While his friend, Ammar, had a note pinned behind his back with “running with visually impaired.”
The video quickly drew attention, not just because of the physical effort, but because of the trust and friendship that carried Adry from start to finish.
A Bond Built on Years of Trust
According to WeirdKaya, for Ammar, running the 21 km marathon with Adry, his best friend, was a deeply emotional experience.
Guiding him wasn’t difficult, thanks to their training and strong teamwork. They stayed connected with the resistance band while another friend ran beside them for extra safety.
Crossing the finish line beside someone he had known for years and trained together for this was a moment he described as “the most emotional moment of all.”
“With the Right People, Nothing Is Impossible”
In a TikTok post on his own account, Adry shared a message of gratitude and encouragement:
“With the right family, partner, and circle of friends, nothing is impossible. As someone who is visually impaired, running 21KM felt like a dream that was out of reach. But with their support, I found the strength to keep moving. If you know someone who is struggling, please reach out. Your encouragement or just being there could be their pivotal moment.”
He thanked his fiancée Alyaa, whom he affectionately called their “logistics shero,” and his guide runners, Ammar and Aida, for making the experience possible.
Netizens Show Their Support in the Comments
The video of Adry’s run sparked an emotional wave of responses online. TikTok users left messages praising his determination and the loyalty of those who stood by him:
“Running is not about winning or losing, or even glory and achievement, it’s about not quitting. The person who starts the race isn’t the same person who finishes it. GG guys.”
One jokingly commented, “My circle only knows cafe hopping and food hunting.”
“His friends are so loyal to stand by him like that.”
“Incredible human being! I have all my senses and still can’t do what this guy did. Proud of you, man!”
“You’re special, bro. You completed the run, surrounded by good people who kept your spirit up. Congratulations!”
“All you need is one bestie who will support you through ups and downs. You’ve won!!”
More Than a Finish Line
Adry’s story is more than just completing a marathon. It’s about rebuilding confidence, leaning on trusted friends, and showing the world that with the right kind of support, no obstacle is too great.
His journey reminds people that sometimes, the best finish lines are the ones crossed together.
