Celebrations erupted outside Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday after host India crushed New Zealand by 96 runs, becoming the first cricket team to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title.
Footage shows ecstatic fans dancing and waving India’s national flag during the celebrations.
“It’s a very exciting moment for India. I think all Indians should be proud of this victory. It’s a great victory,” said Shishir, an Indian cricket team fan.

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets while conceding 15 runs, earning him the player of the match award.
India batted first and finished with 255 runs for the loss of five wickets. New Zealand were all out for 159 in 19 overs. The Men in Blue clinched their record T20 World Cup title, making history by becoming the first host nation to win the tournament and the first defending champions to successfully retain the trophy.
