In a surprising event that occurred on Saturday, 21 September 2024, in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, a troop of monkeys helped stop the sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl. According to her parents, an unidentified man lured the girl to an abandoned house.
Additionally, after removing her clothes, the man was preparing to assault her when a group of monkeys rushed toward him, forcing him to abandon the child and flee.
Still traumatized, the girl then returned home, and shared the terrifying experience with her family, explaining that the monkeys had rescued her.
Father’s Relief
Still reeling from the shock, the girl’s father expressed his relief that the monkeys had intervened when they did. He recalled that his daughter had been playing outside when the man led her away.
After viewing footage from a nearby CCTV camera, the father saw a man walking with his daughter down a narrow lane.
According to Times of India, he also revealed that the attacker threatened to kill him if the child resisted. Reflecting on the incident, the father believed that without the monkeys’ interference, the outcome could have been devastating, stating that his daughter “would have been dead by now” if not for the animals.
Following the incident, the family immediately reported it to the police, initiating an investigation.
Legal Action Underway
After receiving the family’s report, the police filed a First Information Report (FIR) and the case falls under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and more sections if necessary.
Furthermore, Baghpat circle officer Harish Bhadoria, leading the investigation, confirmed that authorities are taking the intervention by the monkeys into account.
Ongoing Search for the Accused
As of now, the accused remains at large. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the man responsible for the attack.
