A Viral Moment of Pure Kindness
On 29 October 2025, TikTok user @/okkar.tries posted a touching video that captured a simple yet moving act of compassion on the streets of Singapore.

The clip, titled “I met the legendary Uncle Rashid after my lunch walk today!”, shows the creator approaching an elderly man known as Uncle Rashid, who regularly buys food for stray cats in the area.

In the short video, Okkar walks into a convenience store where Uncle Rashid is buying packets of wet food for the cats.

He offers to pay for the day’s supplies — 12 packets in total — insisting even after Uncle Rashid modestly declines.

Eventually, the elderly man accepts, and the two head out to feed the neighbourhood cats together.
“Animals, You Feed Them One Time, They Recognize You”
As they walk, Uncle Rashid shares a line that resonated with viewers:

“Animals ah, you feed them one time, they recognize you. But humans, you belanja them… sometimes they backfire lah.”

Soon after, they spot a black cat lingering nearby. Uncle Rashid pours food into a small container.
The video ends with a heartwarming scene — the cat trotting beside him toward a shaded spot to eat.

At the end, Okkar asks uncle Rashid to say hi to the audience.

After that, Okkar records and cheers, “Feels good to do one good thing today.”
Viewers Share Their Own Cat-Feeding Stories
The clip q uickly drew warm responses online, with many viewers recognising the area and even some of the cats.

One user wrote, “I feed cats near the area too! I feed the cat called Tuxie at the area the vid was taken at! Thanks for helping a fellow cat feeder 🥰.”
Others chimed in with similar experiences:

“I do feed cat at my area too ❤️ everyday without fail.”

“W uncle very kind.”

“Uncle Rashid is definitely a good chap 😍😍😍.”

The comment section soon turned into a mini-community of Singapore’s cat feeders — people who, like Uncle Rashid, quietly dedicate time and money to care for strays in their neighbourhoods.
Everyday Heroes in the Heartlands

One user, @/davidlohkc, even invited viewers to his own livestreams, where he regularly feeds 15 cats each session.

Such interactions highlight the unseen kindness that happens daily across Singapore’s estates in small, genuine moments that restore faith in humanity.

In a city often known for its fast pace, this brief but heartfelt video reminds Singaporeans that compassion is not always grand.

Sometimes, a man, a few packets of cat food, and a stray who remembers the face that fed it is just enough.
How You Can Help Your Neighbourhood Cats Too
If Uncle Rashid’s kindness inspired you to do the same, here are some simple ways to help community cats in Singapore, as noted by The Smart Local SG:
Feed responsibly: stick to proper cat food — avoid leftovers or table scraps. Canned wet food is best since it keeps cats hydrated in the heat. Provide clean water: a small bowl of fresh water goes a long way, but remember to change it daily to prevent mosquito breeding.

Feed in quiet corners: avoid lift lobbies or coffee shops — instead, choose sheltered or low-traffic areas to keep peace with residents.
Keep things clean: clear leftovers and dispose of food containers properly after feeding. Work with others: many neighbourhoods have informal groups of feeders. A little care can make a big difference — both for the cats and for the community that loves them.
