Europe’s New Flying Bike Is Light, Fast, and Futuristic
On 6 May, Polish engineer Tomasz Patan introduced a jet-powered flying motorcycle called the Volonaut Airbike. Known for creating the Jetson One eVTOL drone, Patan is now pushing boundaries again. His latest invention can hit speeds of up to 124 mph (200 km/h).
The Airbike is designed to be seven times lighter than a regular motorcycle. Engineers built its body with carbon fiber and 3D-printed parts, keeping the weight down to just 39 kg (86 lbs). This ultra-light frame makes it extremely agile and efficient in the air.
From Traffic Lanes to Open Skies
Patan believes the Airbike offers a safer, faster alternative to road motorcycles. Riders no longer risk being cut off by traffic or hit by open doors. Its ability to fly means it can bypass congestion entirely.
The bike mirrors the design of Star Wars’ Speeder Bike, adding a touch of pop culture appeal.

In a promotional video, a rider wears a Stormtrooper outfit while flying the machine. This visual connects sci-fi fantasy with present-day tech.
Jet Power with Smart Controls
The Airbike does not rely on propellers like the Jetson One. Instead, it uses a jet propulsion system for vertical lift and flight. Patan has not revealed the full technical details of the engine. He confirmed the bike features a built-in flight computer and a stabilization system for smoother control.
This technology helps maintain balance during flight. It also assists riders in hovering and maneuvering smoothly. The design gives riders a full 360-degree view, enhancing both awareness and the sensation of freedom.
A New Category of Personal Transport
The Volonaut Airbike expands the rising category of personal airborne vehicles. Unlike drones or eVTOL taxis, this vehicle is built for solo use. Its small frame and lightweight build make it easier to control and potentially cheaper to maintain.
It may appeal to thrill-seekers, commuters, and aviation hobbyists alike. The Airbike’s compact size also allows for easy storage and transport. These features could help it stand out in the competitive market of flying vehicles.
Still in Testing, But Coming Soon
So far, Patan has not shared when the Airbike will be available for purchase. The price also remains unknown. However, he stated it is “highly probable” that the bike will hit the market soon. He promised to release more updates in the near future.

Three test-flight videos are now available on the Volonaut website. They show the bike in action, flying low above open fields. The final video, featuring the Stormtrooper suit, has gained the most attention.
