In an eerie late-night episode, a food delivery rider in Chon Buri, Thailand, was left shocked when a customer refused to pay for a KFC meal worth 850 baht (approximately 33.13 SGD), claiming that a ghost had placed the order. The delivery rider, 33-year-old Penapha, contacted the Don Hua Lo police, sparking an unusual investigation into the supernatural.
Penapha, a food delivery rider, received an order for KFC, but upon delivering it to the customer, a man named Than, things took a spine-chilling turn.
Than, sitting outside his rented room, insisted that he had been asleep and had no recollection of placing the order. Instead, he bizarrely claimed that his late girlfriend’s ghost had possessed him to order the food.
Ghostly Claims and Threats
According to The Thaiger, Penapha recalled, “The customer ordered KFC worth 850 baht and chose to pay on delivery. But when I arrived, he said he had no money and that a ghost had ordered the food.” Even more unnerving, she reported that Than had threatened, “If I get too hungry, I might kill someone.”
According to Penapha, this wasn’t the first time she had delivered food to Than. On previous occasions, he had paid in full. However, his refusal to pay placed her in a difficult financial position this time, as company policy prevented her from canceling the order. The amount represented a significant loss for her, especially after a long work day.
Police to the Rescue
When police officers arrived, they suspected that Than might be suffering from psychiatric issues, given the unusual nature of his claims. To resolve the situation, the officers decided to assist Penapha by taking both her and Than to the Don Hua Lo Police Station.
In a compassionate move, the officers collectively paid 850 baht to cover the cost of the meal, ensuring that Penapha wouldn’t bear the loss.
Whether the ghost story was a genuine belief or a creative way to avoid payment, the police managed to settle the matter amicably, with everyone walking away from the strange ordeal unharmed.
A Supernatural Sign or Something More?
While Than’s ghostly explanation might raise eyebrows, it’s worth noting that beliefs in spirits and supernatural occurrences are common in Thailand. Whether driven by genuine fear or other factors, this incident left both Penapha and the authorities baffled. Thankfully, cooler heads prevailed, and the situation was resolved peacefully.
As for Than, it remains unclear whether he will continue to insist that his late girlfriend’s spirit was involved in this fast-food fiasco. What is certain, however, is that this peculiar event will not soon be forgotten by those involved.
