Bitten by Cobra, Teen Films TikTok With It Before Falling into Coma

A 15-year-old schoolgirl from Sirajganj, Bangladesh, suffered a life-threatening cobra bite after using the snake’s body to create a TikTok video.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Sunday, 25 May, when Tania, a ninth-grade student at Talom High School, was bitten while heading to the toilet at home.

‘On Monday, at 10:30 PM, while going to the toilet I met ‘Mr. Snake,’ and then I killed him with a stick.’

‘Now tell me, am I brave enough or not 🤣🤣’

‘Everyone, please let me know in the comments how you liked the video’

‘I hit the snake so badly that it can’t move anymore 😁😁🥴🥴’

Instead of calling for help, she killed the snake with a bamboo stick and later used its corpse in a short video for TikTok — a platform her family said she used frequently. Her choice to delay medical care proved nearly fatal. Shortly after filming, she began showing symptoms of venom poisoning.

She told her mother, prompting panic in the home.

Traditional Remedies Fail as Teen Slips Into Coma

Tania’s father, Abu Taher, rushed to her side and sought help from local shamans, relying on traditional methods. However, her condition quickly worsened overnight. By morning, she had slipped into a coma, prompting the family to take her to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.

Doctors at the hospital formed an emergency medical board and examined a photo of the snake. They identified it as a cobra and administered the appropriate antivenom. Tania began responding to treatment, and after two days, she regained consciousness.

“The doctors told us the snake was highly venomous. Once they gave the antivenom, she started to recover. We thank God she’s alive,” her father told reporters.

Teen Now Stable as Incident Raises Social Media Concerns

Doctors have confirmed that Tania is now in stable condition but will remain under medical observation for the next few days. The case has triggered concern among local residents and educators, highlighting the dangers of social media obsession among teenagers.

Using a venomous animal’s body for content, especially so soon after a bite, has drawn criticism and worry. Authorities are now urging parents and schools to talk to young people about responsible social media use and the importance of seeking immediate medical help in emergencies.
