A teacher at a school in Uthai Thani, Thailand, is under investigation after videos and photos allegedly showing him posing nude while wearing a Batman mask surfaced on social media.
Parents and students were outraged after discovering the footage, which was reportedly taken inside classrooms and other areas within the school.
Footage Shows Teacher Posing in Mask and Chain
According to The Thaiger, the man appeared in some clips wearing only a black mask and a chain around his neck.
Other footage allegedly showed him in a Batman mask, undressed except for the mask and chain, while posing in various locations, including a government office.
School director accused of silencing students
Concerns over the school’s response grew after reports surfaced that the director allegedly told students to ignore the incident.
Bangkok Post reported that during a morning assembly, the director warned them not to speak to authorities, implying there would be consequences for those who did.
Social Media Activists Raised the Issue
Social media activist Guntouch Pongpaiboonwet, known as Gun Jom Palang, raised the issue with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec), presenting complaints from parents who wanted immediate action.
Education authorities take action
Following public pressure, Deputy Secretary-General of Obec, Tee Pawangkanant, confirmed that a fact-finding investigation had been launched.
He stated that if the teacher is found guilty, he could be dismissed immediately.
Tee also said the school director would be investigated over allegations that he tried to silence students.
Possible legal consequences
The teacher’s actions may violate Thailand’s Criminal Code. It is reported that public indecency laws could lead to fines, while distributing obscene material online carries potential imprisonment or financial penalties.
Additionally, if the misconduct is confirmed, the teacher’s license would be revoked.
