Late-night Visit Ends in Tragedy
A 25-year-old Malaysian man died after falling from the 20th floor of an apartment in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, while trying to see his girlfriend in the early hours of Friday (22 August 2025).

According to China Press, the man, identified as Tan Jin Qin (transliteration) from Bidor, Perak, had gone to the apartment at around 3.30 am.
Attempt to Climb Across Unit Ledge
When he was unable to reach his girlfriend by phone, he attempted to climb along the outer wall ledge from a neighbouring unit to hers.
Unfortunately, he slipped and fell, landing on the 9th floor. Police said he suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene.

Body Found Hours Later
The tragedy went unnoticed for several hours before it was discovered at about 10.45 am, more than seven hours after the fall.
The victim was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts when found. His sling bag contained his identification card, bank card, passport, and an access card for the apartment.
Family Speaks Out: Relationship Less Than a Month Old
In a recent update, according to Sin Chew Daily, his older brother stated that the victim had only recently returned to Malaysia from abroad after resigning from his customer service job.
While searching for work in Kuala Lumpur, he met his girlfriend, and the two had been dating for less than a month before the incident.

The family was unaware of the girlfriend’s identity and had never met her. They did not know her name or contact details, and she has not reached out to them since the tragedy.
His brother said that although they were aware he had a new relationship, the victim never shared details about her with them.
The elder brother added that the family was shocked when police informed them about the accident. They also remain uncertain about why he was at the apartment so late at night.
Police Rule Out Foul Play
Cheras police chief Aidil Bolhassan confirmed that investigations found no criminal elements involved in the incident.

His funeral took place on August 25 in Meru, Perak.
Remembered as Cheerful and Close to Family
The victim was the youngest among five brothers.
His elder brother described him as cheerful, talkative, and especially close to their mother, often confiding in her and keeping in touch with his siblings despite living abroad previously.
