Rare footage of an enchanting mating dance by two swans was captured in the Gulf of Finland.
Filmed on Monday during a light fog, the beautiful white birds are seen synchronising their movements perfectly.
Swans famously mate for life. In spring, they return to their breeding grounds and begin their mating rituals.
Males attract females through characteristic ‘dancing’ on the water – raising their necks and trumpeting softly. Once a pair is formed, they engage in beautifully co-ordinated displays: turning towards each other, holding their wings slightly apart, and often flying together in unison too.
