A sensational murder has shaken the Indian medical community. Bengaluru surgeon Dr. Mahendra Reddy G.S. has been arrested by the police on charges of murdering his wife and dermatologist Dr. Kruthika Reddy.
But more horrifying information has emerged as the investigation progresses—after killing his wife, he sent a horrific message to at least four to five women: “I killed my wife for you.”

Investigators were told that these messages were sent through a digital payment app called PhonePe. One of the women was a doctor who had rejected Mahendra’s proposal in the past. The woman had blocked him on multiple social media platforms, so Mahendra sent the message using the ‘Notes’ section of PhonePe.

Method of Murder and Progress of Investigation
According to police sources, 32-year-old general surgeon Mahendra Reddy killed his wife by injecting her with a powerful anesthetic called Propofol. This drug can cause heart attack or death by suffocation if overdosed.

On 24 April, when Kritika fell ill, her husband himself took her to the hospital and claimed that she was already ill. But the presence of Propofol in the forensic report revealed that it was not an accident but a planned murder.
Police recovered medical equipment including injection tubes, cannula sets from their house. Mahendra was arrested on 15 October on the complaint of Kritika’s father. Investigators believe that he wanted to make the incident look like a natural death by using his medical knowledge.

Trouble And Mental Instability In Married Life
The doctor couple got married in May last year. According to colleagues, there was tension in their relationship since their marriage.
Mahendra alleged that Kruthika had kept some of her health problems a secret before marriage. Police believe that he planned the murder out of that mental instability.
Reaction on Social Media
There has been a storm of condemnation on social media surrounding the incident. Many have commented that it is not just education that shapes a person’s character – it is their family and social environment.

Some say that in India, easy divorce by mutual consent should be a legal process so that such violence does not happen.

On the other hand, many women have written warningly – showing sympathy for the personal problems of married or in-relationship men can be dangerous, because such mental distortions can make anyone the next target.

The case is currently under investigation. Police sources said that a chargesheet is being prepared against accused Mahendra Reddy based on forensic reports and digital evidence. It is expected that the real motive and details of the plan behind the murder will be revealed once the hearing of the case begins in court.
