Four 13-Year-Old Students Detained for Assaulting Classmate in Mall

Four 13-Year-Old Students Detained for Assaulting Classmate in Mall

Four 13-year-old boys have been detained by Malaysian police to assist in investigations after a classmate was allegedly assaulted at a shopping centre in Kajang, Selangor. 

Kajang police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the altercation took place around 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

Went to the Mall to Address a Disagreement

Investigations revealed that the complainant and his classmates had gone to the mall to address a disagreement. However, during the encounter, the situation escalated into violence.

Viral Video Leads to Police Report, Victim Sustained Injuries

The complainant lodged a police report at 12:57 pm on the same day, shortly after the incident occurred. Footage of the incident later surfaced online, showing the student being attacked during the altercation.

The victim is seen enduring repeated punches from the two other boys during the incident.

According to FMT, the victim received medical treatment at a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed to have sustained minor facial injuries, police said.

Four Students Detained and Remanded

Following the report and video evidence, police detained the four students in Kajang at 8:35 pm on July 31. All of them were remanded for two days, until August 2, to assist with the investigation.

Police confirmed that the case is being investigated under the following legal provisions:

  • Section 323 of the Penal Code – for voluntarily causing hurt
  • Section 506 of the Penal Code – for criminal intimidation
  • Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 – relating to disorderly behaviour

As of the time of reporting, no formal charges have been filed.

Police Urge Students to Stay Out of Trouble

ACP Naazron urged students to think about the long-term consequences of their actions and to avoid situations that could negatively affect their future.

Anyone with more information related to the case is encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Shahrulhasram Ramli, or visit the nearest police station.
