A 14-year-old Malaysian student has pleaded guilty at the Kajang Magistrate’s Court to punching a teacher who reprimanded him for skipping physical education class.

The incident reportedly took place on Monday, July 28, around 4.48 pm at a secondary school in Kajang, Selangor, and was witnessed by other teachers and students.
Student Upset After Being Scolded by Teacher for Skipping Class
According to Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof, the student became upset after being scolded for not attending a Physical Education class, which was supposed to take place on the field.
A confrontation occurred, which led the student to punch the teacher in the face and make threats.
Viral Video Shows Student Punching Teacher
A video of the confrontation went viral online. It showed the student and teacher grabbing each other by the collar.
The student, dressed in a school tracksuit uniform, was seen grinning and saying, “Come at me,” before the student punched the teacher in the face.

The teacher remained calm and challenged the student to hit him again, but no further blows were thrown.

Police Report Lodged, Student Arrested
A police report was filed by the teacher the same evening (July 28) at 7:15 pm. Police arrested the student the next day, July 29.

He was held on a two-day remand prior to being brought to court.
Court Proceedings Held Behind Closed Doors
On July 30, the student was brought to court accompanied by his parents and lawyer. During the hearing, he admitted to the offence before Magistrate Fatin Dayana Jalil.

Since the accused is a minor, proceedings were held behind closed doors.
The student was formally charged with intentionally causing injury to the teacher, as outlined in Section 323 of the Penal Code.
The offence carries a maximum jail term of one year, a fine of up to RM2,000 (approx. S$608), or both.
RM1,000 Bail Granted, Sentencing Set for Sept 11
According to NST, the student’s lawyer stated that the magistrate had set bail at RM1,000 (approx. S$304) with one surety.
The prosecution had initially proposed a RM5,000 bail (approx. S$1,521), but the lawyer requested a minimal amount, citing the boy’s status as a student and juvenile offender.
The magistrate scheduled September 11 for the next hearing, pending the completion and submission of a social welfare report.
Boy Expressed Remorse, Mother Says
The boy’s mother, who appeared visibly saddened, said she was deeply worried about her child’s future.
According to her, he had expressed remorse and had apologised for his actions.
