Son Murders Mother in Rage Over Her Constant Scoldings

In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old woman from Myanmar was stabbed to death by her son after ongoing disputes over frequent scoldings turned violent. The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 20, at their home in Seksyen 25, Shah Alam, Malaysia.

Discovery and Immediate Response

The tragedy came to light when the victim’s youngest child returned home from school and discovered the horrifying scene.

The child quickly alerted a neighbor, who then contacted the police at 5:49 PM. Upon arrival, officers found the woman’s body in the kitchen, covered in blood.

Incident Timeline and Initial Discovery

The incident reportedly took place around 4:30 PM, while the victim was home alone, presumably preparing a meal. Authorities believe the woman was unexpectedly confronted by the suspect. During the confrontation, the situation escalated into a physical struggle, resulting in the son allegedly stabbing his mother multiple times with a sharp weapon.

Upon receiving the report at approximately 5:49 PM, the Shah Alam police acted quickly. By 7:30 PM, they had successfully apprehended the suspect, her 20-year-old son. The arrest took place at a nearby location, and the weapon believed to have been used in the murder—a knife—was seized from the scene.

Possible Motive Linked to Financial Disputes

Early investigations indicate that the tragic incident might have stemmed from ongoing financial disagreements between the mother and her son. It is reported that the victim had been frequently reprimanding and scolding her son about money-related issues, which could have triggered the violent confrontation.

Legal Action and Cause of Death Confirmed

Following the arrest, the police sought a remand order for the suspect. On August 21, 2024, Magistrate Puan Ameera Mastura binti Khamis granted a seven-day remand, lasting until August 27, 2024, for further investigation into the case.

A post-mortem was carried out to determine the cause of death. The forensic results revealed that the victim died from suffocation and multiple stab wounds to the abdomen. Given the nature of the injuries and the circumstances, authorities are pursuing charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty for murder convictions.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal for Information

The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing, as police work diligently to uncover the full details of the incident. The authorities have made a public appeal for any additional information that could assist in the investigation. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact ASP Muhammad Abdul Hafiz bin Sariee at 014-8905051.
