A video uploaded originally on 6 January this year has been making rounds on social media in the past week. The TikTok video, by user @sohbenghock, shows an uncle in Singapore doing karate kicks on a basket atop an unoccupied food cart. No bystanders can be observed in the video.

The account features other videos by this uncle dating back to 2024, too. In all videos he shows off his flexibility, doing stretches and displaying his youthful energy.
“Wah so flexible!”
The 16-second clip gained almost 6,000 likes on TikTok.

Clad simply in a pair of white shoes, jeans and a simple t-shirt, the uncle appears to show off his flexibility, kicking down the basket with his right leg.

He then picks the basket right back up and attempts to kick it down again from another side with his left leg.

Amused viewers flooded the comments of this video: some in awe, others cracking jokes.
Viewer Reactions
Ranging from curious to concerned, the comments showed netizens clearly entertained by the uncle’s antics.

Some mentioned the strong pair of jeans the uncle was wearing. Surely, the quality of the jeans must be exceptional if it could withstand the movements displayed in the clip.

Others applauded the uncle’s flexibility at his age, impressed by the height of his kicks.

However, a commenter who introduced himself as a hawker mentioned that such actions could cause damage to the basket and that said baskets are now hard to find.

One slightly dramatic comment enquired why nobody took action. And the replies rallied in favour of the cool uncle in the video, asserting that he was not causing any harm.
Earlier Videos
The oldest video on the account happens to be from 14 December 2024, where the uncle balances a split between two pillars.

He then picks up a green plastic chair and holds it above his head.

In most videos, the uncle is seemingly not alone, as somebody helps him film these videos. Viewers across the clips show amazement at his level of fitness.
Staying Fit and Ageing
On the topic of active aging, Healthier SG says that maintaining an active lifestyle is essential for maintaining good health and preventing chronic conditions like obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. The best part is that one can get these health benefits without actually taking up a physically demanding sport. Considering light activities in one’s regular routine, like walking more, using the stairs, or riding a bike instead of using public transportation can be ways of achieving this.
Additionally, joining a workout class can help, apart from keeping mentally engaged. Learning new things or gaining new abilities, including digital literacy, gardening, or even enrolling in that art class you never had time for as a child, can help seniors keep their minds engaged. These encounters can foster curiosity, creativity, and open-mindedness—qualities associated with a better aging process.
