A major accident was averted by the quick action of ordinary residents after a small fire broke out on the ground floor of a residential building in Singapore. Witnesses said that no one understood the situation at first when the fire broke out at night. However, a group of young people came forward and started extinguishing the fire.
Judging by their attire, it is believed that they were returning from prayers. They have been hailed as ‘Jubah Boys’ on social media.
Quick and Courageous Initiative
First, a young man wearing a white thobe (jubah) took a fire extinguisher in his hand. He understood the situation and went straight to the fire without delay. Then another man came to help him, which played an important role in controlling the fire.
Gradually, a few more people wearing jubah joined in and started using water together. With their concerted efforts, the fire was brought under control before it became a big problem. As a result, it was possible to avoid major damage.
A Moment of Confusion
At the beginning of the incident, there was some confusion among the residents of the building. Many initially confused the sound with something else. Some thought it was an ice cream vendor’s bell, while others suspected a mechanical fault in the elevator.
However, the situation gradually became clear. Only after the smell was detected did everyone understand the importance of the matter. By then, some had already started extinguishing the fire.

The incident was widely praised on social media. Many believe that calm, quick and courageous action is the hallmark of a true community. Some specifically mentioned the role of the ‘Jubah Boys’ and a man in shorts.
Others commented that such training is practical and has been proven to work. Many said that not all heroes wear capes; some become heroes even after wearing a jubah.
Another mentioned that a member of his family was upstairs of the affected building but did not notice the fire, which shows the danger of the situation.
Another opinion said that while others were moving away or watching, some people came forward to help—this is true humanity.
Control of the Authorities
Later, the fire service arrived at the scene and brought the situation under complete control. They ensured that the fire did not spread further. Although the extent of the fire was small, it could have become larger if quick action had not been taken. Initially, no major casualties were reported.
