Singaporean Men Injured After Check-Out Dispute in Thailand

Incident at Patong Bay Residence Hotel

In the early hours of August 15, 2024, a significant confrontation erupted at Patong Bay Residence Hotel in Phuket. The dispute involved two Singaporean tourists and a hotel security guard. The altercation began around 4:45 AM when tourists Clifton Lau, 21, and Nigel Tey, 22, attempted to exit the hotel without completing their check-out.

Violence Erupts

According to The Thaiger, security guard Suphawut Chaladchalam intervened, attempting to prevent the tourists from leaving without paying their bills. The situation escalated quickly when one of the tourists struck Suphawut with a bottle and punched him. Suphawut responded by defending himself with punches, targeting both tourists in the process.

Police and Medical Response

Police Lieutenant Colonel Phongpipat Khamchumphu and Superintendent Chalermchai Hirsawat arrived at the scene with representatives from the Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation. They discovered the injured tourists and Suphawut outside the hotel, with visible injuries and blood on their faces and clothes.
