Singapore Worker from Malaysia Beheaded in Motorcycle Crash on Way Home

A tragic accident on August 19, 2024, claimed the life of a Malaysian worker, M. Balakrishnan, on the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link. The incident occurred around 8:20 AM at the 8.2 km mark of the highway. Balakrishnan, 31, was on his way home to Gelang Patah after finishing his shift at a safety, life-saving, and firefighting equipment supplier in Singapore when he lost control of his motorcycle, causing it to overturn.

The Gruesome Nature of the Crash

The crash was particularly severe, leading to decapitation. According to reports from China Press, graphic images of the accident were shared online, showing the victim’s head separated from his body. Bystanders at the scene attempted to cover Balakrishnan’s body with rags before emergency services arrived.

Investigation in Progress

Iskandar Puteri district police deputy chief Superintendent Mohammad Azlan confirmed that the case is under investigation according to Section 41(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987, which addresses dangerous and reckless driving resulting in death.
