Singapore Couple’s Home Wedding Shows You Don’t Need S$50K to Say ‘I Do’

In Singapore, where weddings mean a huge budget, a grand venue, and the pressure of long preparations, a couple’s home wedding video is now the center of praise on the internet. This video, shared on the popular Instagram account @cherkernage, has become a document of a ‘heartwarming and real’ moment for many.

This wedding ceremony, held in a small space inside the house, with live music from friends, is giving modern Singaporean couples a new idea.

Home Wedding Moment

In the video, it can be seen that the newlyweds are not having a luxurious hall, but inside their own home. The bride’s friends play the role of a live band there, which makes the whole atmosphere even warmer.

The event is filled with simple decorations, familiar faces, and sincere smiles. As a result, it becomes a completely different experience for the guests. In this homely environment, the wedding moments become more meaningful.

Last-Minute Preparations

In the post, the bride said that she collected her gown just a week before the wedding. On the other hand, the groom gets his suit a day before the wedding. Even the hair and nails are done on the wedding day.

Yet, despite all the hustle and bustle, they successfully complete the ceremony. At the end, they happily announce that they are now officially ‘Mr. and Mrs. Ker’.

Wedding Cost in Singapore

An average wedding in Singapore usually costs around 30,000 to 50,000 Singapore dollars. For a more lavish wedding, the cost can easily exceed 80,000 SGD. While a relatively affordable wedding can cost between 15,000 and 40,000 dollars, the cost of the solemnization alone is less than 10,000 dollars. In that reality, this home-based arrangement has become an inspiration for many.

Netizens’ Reaction

After the video went viral, many users expressed their feelings on social media. Many netizens felt that such a home wedding is a practical way to reduce the unnecessary stress and expenses of modern life.

According to some, the couple wisely avoided the mental fatigue and financial pressure that comes with a big event. Others said that such a small-scale event surrounded by familiar people actually creates memories that will last a long time.

Several users also mentioned this wedding as a positive example for young couples, where love and sincerity have become the main thing, not pomp.

The most memorable march-in ever 🥰 thank you friends for agreeing to be our live band, making it such an unforgettable wedding. We were so busy that the bride only got her gown 1 week before the wedding, groom got his suit 1 day before the wedding, and the bride’s nails was done on the day of the wedding 😂 but hey, we did it! We’re officially Mr & Mrs Ker 🥳 #wedding #liveband
