Singapore-Registered Car Drove Against Traffic on Johor Expressway, M’sian Police Investigating Incident

Malaysian authorities are investigating a Singapore-registered vehicle that was seen driving against traffic on the Senai–Desaru Expressway near Kota Tinggi, Johor.

The incident occurred on Saturday, June 21, at around 11.31 am near Kilometre 55 of the expressway. 

A 12-second dashcam video capturing the scene was later posted on the Community Roda Johor Facebook page.

Singapore Car Seen Endangering Other Motorists

Kota Tinggi police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman identified the vehicle involved as a white car bearing the Singaporean registration number SNT4298.

According to BERNAMA, the car was recorded driving in the wrong direction, putting other road users in danger,  he said in a statement on Sunday, 22 June.

Authorities Investigating for Reckless and Dangerous Driving

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers reckless and dangerous driving.

Superintendent Yusof also encouraged anyone who witnessed the incident or may have further information to come forward and contact Traffic Enforcement Officer Inspector Amirul Mustakim Mustaza to assist with the investigation.

Urged the Public to Follow Traffic Rules

He went on to urge the public to always stay alert and follow traffic regulations to ensure the safety of everyone on the road.
