Two young brothers tragically died in a house fire in Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental, in the southern Philippines, around noon on June 23, 2025. The children, aged four and two, were reportedly left alone at the time of the incident.
After the fire was extinguished, responders found the siblings embracing each other among the remains of their burned home, according to a Facebook post by Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS).
Neighbor Recounts Helpless Attempt to Save the Children
A nearby resident was resting at home when the fire broke out. He recalled waking up to the sound of children screaming for their mother. He also noted that the flames had already risen above the roof, spreading rapidly.
Despite the efforts of neighbors who tried to put out the fire using buckets of water, the blaze quickly engulfed the bamboo walls and flooring, making the children unable to escape.

When the fire finally subsided, they were found lying face down, still hugging each other.

Parents Were Away at the Time
The children’s parents, Jennefer and Wilfredo, were in Aloran, a nearby town, when they received the devastating news.

Someone who knew the family informed them that their house was on fire and that the children had died.
“We were so worried. We rushed home immediately,” Jennifer said, according to the KMJS post.“I truly didn’t expect something like that to happen to them.”
The boys were later buried with the assistance of barangay (village) officials, Philstar reported.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Stephen Florida, a fire investigator from the Sinacaban Municipal Fire Station, confirmed that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
