A Childhood Dream Turned Reality
Shen Yuhao, a young man from Zhejiang Province, China, has turned his love for the popular anime Crayon Shin-chan into a tangible reality by constructing a life-sized replica of the Nohara family’s home.
The project, located in Silian Village, Nanxun District, Huzhou City, quickly became a viral sensation and tourist attraction.
Comforting Childhood Anime
Crayon Shin-chan was a comforting part of Shen’s childhood, and the idea of recreating the Nohara house began as a casual joke among Shen and his creative team.
However, the team, all avid fans of the anime, decided to pursue the idea seriously, aiming to create a project that would not only delight fans but also draw visitors to Shen’s hometown.
Authenticity at Its Core
Shen and his team spared no effort to ensure the replica’s authenticity. As reported by Record China, they made multiple trips to Shanghai to meet with the exclusive licensing agency for Crayon Shin-chan in China.
After securing the necessary permissions, they received detailed reference materials to guide their work. Every element—from the roof tiles to the furniture—was custom-made to match the anime’s original design.
A Mother’s Love and Support
The project initially planned with a modest budget, eventually exceeded 3 million yuan (approx. 558,437 SGD).
Shen also explained that his mother’s unwavering support was crucial in achieving this dream, narrating that she fully backed him and provided the funds to turn his vision into reality.
A Boost for the Local Economy
The project’s impact extended beyond Shen’s personal aspirations. The Nohara house revitalized Yun Duo Farm, where it is situated, by attracting waves of tourists.
The local government recognized its potential and invested in infrastructure improvements, such as enhancing road access, to support the influx of visitors. The site was also incorporated into the area’s broader tourism initiatives.
A village official expressed amazement at Shen’s vision and its impact on the community, noting that while Shen’s idea was inspiring, few expected it to materialize on such a scale.
