A Desperate Search for a Bidet in Tampines

A woman’s frustrated hunt for a working bidet at Our Tampines Hub has sparked a wider conversation online about hygiene, accessibility and the state of public toilets in Singapore.

In a TikTok video posted on 9 December 2025, she recounted having to try multiple toilets before finally finding one with a bidet. The clip quickly circulated, resonating with many who shared similar experiences navigating public restrooms without water sprays.

“I’m so pissed. It took me 4 different toilets to find a bidet in Tampines Hub,” she said in the video. She explained that two of the toilets she visited were occupied, leaving her scrambling for alternatives.

“This is Tampines”

As her situation became more urgent, she described attempting to use the accessible toilet, only to discover that it did not have a bidet installed.

“And then, like, I was like, okay, last resort, I gotta poop, like, right now. I wanted to go to the Accessible Toilet, but I couldn’t. The Accessible Toilet did not have a bidet,” she said.

Her frustration peaked when she questioned why only one cubicle per toilet was equipped with a bidet.

“Why do you only have a bidet in one cubicle per toilet? This is Tampines. We wash our butts here. Come on!”

In the video caption, she clarified that her remarks were not meant to disrespect accessible toilets, writing:
“I really was distraught from the whole experience trying to find an adequate toilet with a bidet to poop in, so pardon when I misspoke and said handicap toilet instead of accessible toilet.”

She added that her comments were simply, “my observation and a cry for help tbh.”

A Comments Section Divided

The video’s comments section quickly filled with debate, reflecting the tension between demand for bidets and concerns over misuse.

Some agreed wholeheartedly with her frustration. One commenter wrote: “Appeal to have them in all of Singapore please.” Another added: “It gets very annoying some times that all cubicles don’t have bidets installed. not every persons use toilet paper to wipe themselves.”

Others pointed out practical issues. “Then you’ll end up with wet floor toilets,” one comment read, noting that while bidets are useful, “there are so many irresponsible users.”

Another echoed similar concerns, saying handheld bidets are often damaged, stolen, or leave floors soaked.

There was also debate over MRT stations. While one user claimed “all public toilets in sg have no bidet including the ones in the mrt stations,” another countered that Downtown Line stations do have them — only for someone else to respond that they were removed from Tampines East MRT, allegedly due to wet floors.

Several commenters said they had given up entirely, opting to carry portable bidets instead.

Where Bidets Can Actually be Found in Tampines

Amid the confusion, a long-running Instagram page dedicated to locating bidets in Singapore resurfaced in the discussion.

In a November 26, 2022 post, @toiletswithbidetsg documented specific locations at Our Tampines Hub where bidets could be found. According to the post, bidets were available at:

  • Levels 2 and 3 near the sports halls (first cubicle only, female toilets)
  • Level 4 near Lobby M around the seating area (first cubicle only)
  • Level 5 near the jogging track

An update from commenters later noted that a male toilet on Level 3 near the same area also had a bidet. These crowdsourced updates helped clarify that bidets do exist in the building, but often only in specific cubicles.

A Community Built Around a Daily Need

The @toiletswithbidetsg page began in 2022 after its creator came across a tweet calling for an app to locate toilets with water sprays. She chose Instagram so she could share photos alongside locations.

Since then, the page has grown into a community resource, compiling over 200 bidet locations across Singapore and creating a publicly accessible Google Map.

Many users credit the page with “saving their lives” during urgent situations, with some even calling its creator a “hero.”

How to Use the Bidet Map

For those who share the frustration, @toiletswithbidetsg’s Bidet Map remains one of the most practical tools available. The map allows users to zoom in by location and check user-submitted entries showing where bidets are installed, from malls and MRT stations to cafes and public buildings.

Entries are regularly updated as contributors report new finds or note when bidets have been removed.

As debates continue over hygiene, cost and misuse, the viral Tampines video has highlighted a simple truth: for many in Singapore, access to a bidet is not a luxury, but a daily necessity — and until they are more widely available, crowdsourced maps may remain the next best thing.

Tampines has a severe lack of bidets in malls and spaces in general compared to other neighbourhoods, just my observation and a cry for help tbh!
